1. What materials can this bulk bag hold?
This bulk bag is designed for lightweight, dry wood byproducts such as sawdust, planer shavings, wood shavings, animal bedding, dry wood fiber, small wood chips, mill byproducts, and compatible biomass materials. The bag construction should be confirmed for the product’s moisture content, particle size, and bulk density.
2. How much weight can the bag safely hold?
The bag has a safe working load of 2,205 pounds, or 1,000 kilograms. This limit should not be exceeded during filling, lifting, storage, transportation, or unloading. Because sawdust and wood shavings have a relatively low bulk density, the bag may reach its volume capacity before reaching its maximum rated weight.
3. How is the bag filled and emptied?
The wide duffle top supports fast filling from conveyors, hoppers, blowers, or dust-collection systems. The duffle can be tied closed to help contain loose material during storage and transportation. Because the bag has a flat bottom, it is commonly emptied by tipping, vacuum extraction, manual removal, or cutting the bottom open.
4. What are the benefits of uncoated fabric?
Uncoated woven polypropylene allows more airflow through the fabric than a coated bag. This can be useful for sufficiently dry sawdust and wood shavings, but the bag does not provide a moisture barrier and should be stored in a dry, covered location.
5. What safety precautions should be followed when using this bag?
Sawdust and fine wood particles can create combustible dust and may present fire or explosion hazards in enclosed environments. Proper ventilation, dust collection, housekeeping, ignition control, and suitable handling procedures should be used. The material should also be sufficiently dry to reduce the risk of mold, decomposition, and heat buildup.
