Lets not overcomplicate this.
There aren’t 50 types.
There are three.
Fiber. Plastic. Coated.
But if you don’t know the difference?
You’ll either overpay… or damage your freight.
So let’s make sure that doesn’t happen.
Now let’s talk types.
1. Fiber Slip Sheets
These are the workhorses.
Made from solid laminated paperboard.
Typically brown or kraft-colored.
Lightweight, recyclable, and strong.
They come in different thicknesses — 30pt, 40pt, 50pt depending on your load.
And they usually have one lip.
Sometimes two.
Sometimes four.
The lip is what your forklift’s push-pull grabs.
We stock 36×42″, 40×48″, and custom cuts.
These are perfect for dry goods, bagged product, and unitized boxes.
And the price?
Usually under $1.
That’s a no-brainer for most outbound shippers.
2. Coated Fiber Slip Sheets
Same base as the first.
But with an added poly or moisture-resistant coating.
That makes them slicker.
Stronger.
More forgiving with condensation or cold storage.
Coated fiber sheets are great for:
- Wet warehouses
- Frozen product
- Outdoor shipping
- Sweaty bags or drums
They’re more durable than bare board.
And still cheaper than plastic.

We’ll point you in the right direction.
3. Plastic Slip Sheets
These are your premium option.
HDPE, LDPE, or polypropylene.
Tough.
Washable.
Reusable.
Exporters love them because they hold up in salt air and bad weather.
Factories use them for closed-loop systems — think in-house moves or returnable packaging.
They cost more upfront — anywhere from $4 to $10+.
But they can last dozens (even hundreds) of cycles.
We stock 40×48″ standard with 1–4 lips.
And we can get custom colors or branding if you need it.
They’re perfect for beverage plants, chemical processors, or anyone who needs clean, consistent handling.
What About Lip Configurations?
Great question.
The “lip” is the tab that sticks out for your forklift attachment.
Here’s the breakdown:
- Single lip = most common. Pulls from one direction.
- Double lip = allows loading from two sides.
- Triple lip = three-directional pull.
- Quad lip = pull from any side. Good for tight warehouses.
Most outbound shippers use single or double.
Internal systems or 3PLs with flexibility often go triple or quad.
We’ll help you figure out what fits.
Choosing the Right One
Here’s the rule:
Match your sheet to the job.
Dry, clean, boxed freight = fiber.
Moisture, cold, condensation = coated fiber.
Closed-loop or rough handling = plastic.
If you’re guessing?
You’re risking product damage.
Or overpaying for plastic when fiber would’ve done the trick.
Don’t do that.

Bonus: Custom Cut Slip Sheets
Yes — we do custom sizes.
If you run smaller gaylords, euro pallets, or oddball skids?
We’ll cut to your specs.
And we can pre-score lips, add print, or ship bulk to your 3PL.
Minimums apply, but turnaround is fast.

Final Word: Keep It Simple
You don’t need 12 SKUs.
You just need the right 1 or 2.
Slip sheets are tools.
Use the right one, and they’ll save you money on:
- Pallet costs
- Freight weight
- Floor space
- Damage claims
